Core Values – something we all have, and something that we view as important.

They are unique to each individual and we often surround ourselves with those who have similar values. We look for these values in our friends and those closest to us, so wouldn’t it be important to have them in our business as well?

Defining a set of Core Values allows those involved with your business (whether it be employer, employee or client) to align themselves with them and help promote unity and success. At More CA we have taken the time to come up with ours by facilitating our own Core Values Development workshop. We identified five we view as important, and over the next few months we will release a five-part blog series explaining what each of the values mean to us and why we selected it.

First is Compassion.

Here at More CA we have a unique understanding of what it is like to be a business trying to get off the ground. When More CA was first established it was a new company so, rather than inheriting clients (common practice within the accounting industry), Andrew had to put in the hard yards to go and find them. This is no easy task no matter what industry you are in. After all it’s about identifying what makes you different from everyone else and then letting everyone know.

Also, most people will typically use businesses that their family or friends use, which may not provide the most value or best solutions for them. So, helping people see what makes you different and why you are more valuable can help relieve them from their traditions. This is where our Core Value of Compassion comes into play. At More CA we have defined compassion as “empathy with a desire to help”. With first-hand experience in getting a business off the ground and working hard to make sure it is a success, we understand that in life there will be times where not everything is going to plan. These challenges are best met with a reliable support network who will ask the right questions and understand how to help push through. In business that can often be your accountant.
